How to write in feet and inches
I am trying to calculate the pitch of a roof that is 27' and 11 and 1/4" wide. In AutoCAD it's notated as 27'-11-1/4" but WA sees it as 27' minus 11 minus 1/4". I was wondering if there's a way for WA to see it as feet and inches rather than having to convert it to decimal feet or inches each time I want to calculate roof pitch. Thanks

Re: How to write in feet and inches
It seems to have an easier time parsing longhand English when there's fractions with whole numbers present:
If you put the whole number in to the fraction as the response above does, or change the 1/4 to a decimal, it works fine:
- Code: Select all
27 feet 11 1/4 inches
= 27' 45/4"
335.3 inches
27.94 feet
If you put the whole number in to the fraction as the response above does, or change the 1/4 to a decimal, it works fine:
- Code: Select all
27' 45/4"
27' 11.25"

Re: How to write in feet and inches
Just use "ft" for feets and "in" for inches. Instead of writing "pitch... 27 ft 11,25 in" write "pitch... (27 ft + 11,25 in).
